Patient With Migraines Are More Prone To Be Depressed

Man suffering from chronic headache, in particular migraines, are much more inclined to suffer from depression, feel worn-out, and have a host of other hard physical symptoms, according to a study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The medical research involved 1080 women who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in nine US states. Of the man tested, 116 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 343 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the women were diagnosed with migraines.

The medical research found man with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also three times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among man diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the medical research found the likelihood of major Atypical Depression increased 32-fold if the woman also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms may agitate or be a manifestation of major Atypical Depression in patients with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Major Depression will heighten pain perception,” said clinical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical investigation are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Depression should be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Indifferent of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Atypical Depression complicates headache treatment and can stir up poorer consequences for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The clinical research was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American women are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to making better women care through instruction and medical study. A neurologist is a surgeon specialized on diagnosing, curing and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as blow, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and repeated sclerosis.
